Spyderco's® Kopa Series continues to grow with the latest version having Squash colored Jigged Bone handle scales (both sides). The Kopa Series is Spyderco's first collection of refined gentlemen's folders and the plan is to limit the collection to 18 variations of handle scales.

The unusual look and style of this knife will draw your attention again and again. The designer, Jason Breeden, says "My designs are born from need I've experienced. I live in the Appalachian Mountains and am regularly outdoors or in water. A recurve blade has cutting advantages in water but I also wanted a strong tip for outdoor applications." "Pikal" is a word that comes from the Visayan dialect in the Phillipines and means "to rip". Spyderco tells us that the Poliwog CLIPIT's open-end Ball Bearing Lock is one of the strongest of all of their locking mechanisms. This is from a company who is known for their attention to the strength and functionality of their knives. Pulling back on the ball unlocks the blade from either side.

I have always admired the triangular rods of Sal's Sharpmaker but did not like the wide angle he used. I see that he now incorporates the 30° angle that I like so well as his basic angle and still includes the 40° angle that used for the edge on thicker blades or to add a micro-bevel to a properly sharpened edge.
