In the 1950s, Bo Randall designed the Model 14 Attack primarily for combat and survival purposes. It has been one of their most popular models and is most popular with the standard fingergrooved handle with a brass double guard. O-1 high carbon tool steel is the original blade steel and with a Rockwell hardness of 53-55 Rc., it is the easiest to sharpen.
Pete Hamilton is recognized in the knife world as "The Randall Man." He was the shop foreman for Randall from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. This book chronicles in color photographs the making of a Randall knife.
Randall Made Knives are the best known and most noted handmade knives in the world. The Randall shop has been producing Randall knives since 1938 with their knives being mentioned in both novels and histories. The Randall Model 8 was carried by U-2 pilot Gary Powers on his ill-fated flight over the USSR in 1960.

Randall has been making handmade knives for the past 55 years. Gary Randall, the present owner took over from his father W.D. "Bo" Randall in the mid 1970s. These are the best known and most noted handmade knives in the world. They have been mentioned in both novels and in histories. The Randall shop remains so busy that it normally takes over 4 years to get a knife directly from them. For anyone wanting to order directly from Randall the price will be lower but the wait will be extremely long. No two Randall Made knives are exactly alike, for no jigs or patterns are used in their final construction. Large scale commercial production with this kind of attention to detail is not feasible and that's why knives of this unique quality are not widely available.
For over 50 years, these have been the best known handmade knives in the world. Gary Randall, the present owner, took over from his father, W. D. "Bo" Randall, in the mid 1970's and the shop remains so busy that it often takes over 4 years to get a knife directly from them. We are one of the few authorized Randall dealers, and try to keep a stock of their knives. If we don't have the knife that you want in stock, we can usually have it for you within 5 to 6 months, because our orders with Randall are booked years in advance. For anyone wanting to order directly from Randall the price will be lower but the wait will be extremely long.

In the 1950s, Bo Randall designed the Model 14 Attack for the troops in Korea. A knife designed for combat and survival, this knife has become one of their most popular models. This is only the second time this Randall model has been in an A. G. Russell Catalog and never before with Green Micarta. As much as I like the Model 1, I have to tell you, if I were young and headed for Iraq or Afghanistan, I would much rather have the Model 14 on my belt.
In September of 1939, W.D. Randall began stamping his knives with the same mark you see on them today. Being a fine knifemaker, a great business man, and a master in the art of self-promotion helped W. D. Randall to become the best known maker of handmade knives in the world. "Bo", as the world knew him, continued to lead his handmade knife firm until he turned the business over to his son Gary in 1970. Gary had been very active in the firm for years and has been in charge for nearly 30 years. Continuing in the family tradition, Gary's son Jason is now a part of the business.
I believe the Model 3 to be the very first model "Bo" Randall made. It would be hard to recognize today's clean-cut Model 3 as the same knife produced in 1937.
