1,000 Piece Limited Edition

This is the 9th knife I designed and produced honoring the Texas Rangers. With every knife I design, I think of my great, great uncle George Howell who joined the Rangers in 1870. Each year, I try to design a knife that young George would have liked to own if he'd had unlimited choices.

This design began as a Cattaraugus® King of the Woods™, a design from the late 1800s. It is a swell center, lockback folding hunter with a large clip blade.  The blade measures 3⁄16" thick, 4-3⁄4" long and 1-3⁄16" wide; a hunk of a blade. The steel is 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. The unbelievable width and length of the handle filling blade is made possible by using unique engineering solutions (look inside at the locking bar). The bolsters, caps and liners are stainless steel. The Texas Ranger Star inlay is nickel silver and the handle scales are smooth black G-10. The ability to open and close a knife of this kind with either hand was impossible in George's day. We've changed that. Measures 5-5⁄8" closed. Weighs 8.3 oz. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

Dear AG Russell,
I have always preferred to buy American products whenever possible. I've been very reluctant to purchase a knife made in China. To me, a knife is more than just a tool, they are an expression of who I am. They are that important to me. I received my Texas Ranger King of the Woods knife a few days ago. Any misgivings I had about a knife made in China are gone. This is a knife of the first quality. Beautiful fit and finish, superb blade, excellent grind, and shaving sharp out-of-the-box. The optional leather sheath is also superbly made - very high quality leather, expertly sewn, very tight and secure fit - like a fine holster.
Great job A.G. Russell!!!  Thank you so much for bringing us the highest quality products at affordable prices.
