When working on designs for slip joint or lockback folders, A.G. tried to stay as close to traditional as possible. And yet, you can always see A.G. in the design. These hunters are exquisite. It is hard to believe that a factory-made folding knife can be made today with such precision, even to the polishing of the parts that show only on the inside of the knife. Open the blades, shine a flashlight down into the inside. It is polished clean. These knives are the best value in the world.

The A.G. Russell 4-1⁄4" Lockback Folding Hunter is made with the finest stainless steel bolsters, caps, liners and inlay. The 3-5⁄8"  flat ground blade measures 1" wide and 5⁄32" thick, and opens and closes smoothly on Teflon® washers between the stainless liners and the blade. A striker pin prevents the blade edge from striking the back spring, no matter how sharply you close the knife. The blade steel is our very popular 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. It takes a razor edge and is re-sharpened easily on ceramic, diamonds, Aluminum-Oxide or Arkansas stones.

When we produced the original knives with handle scales, we also produced 100 frames with no handle scales. This was done to allow us to add different materials in our shop here in Rogers. Measures 4-1⁄4" closed. Buckeye weighs about 4.6 oz. and It's Not Ivory about 4.9 oz. Made in China. Handle scales added in Rogers, Arkansas.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III
