Over the years, we have produced a few of someone else's designs. Some of our best examples are folders based on Bob Dozier designs.

About a year ago, one of our very best vendors offered us several of their designs as A. G. Russell™ exclusives. When I looked at the samples, which were made using premium materials, I was struck with the fact that while being made in a manufacturing setting, they were obviously really handmade knives. These knives are built in small quantities, by people who care about knives.

This is the largest of the three new framelocks that we have chosen from designs offered to us by one of our top manufacturers, measuring 5-1/2" closed. The 4-5⁄8" reinforced tip simi-skinner blade is 9Cr13CoMoV at 58-60 Rc. with an impeccable satin finish. The obverse handle side is black G10 over a Titanium liner. The reverse handle side is Titanium with a hardened stainless steel lock face. This is a bruiser of a knife. There are no ball bearings at the pivot, but the weight and length of the blade propels it into the open position with the assistance of either the hole in the blade or the flipper.

A strong ball detent creates a positive close and assures that the blade stays where it belongs when the knife is not in use. It ships with the deep pocket Titanium clip installed in the tip down position, but can be changed to the tip up position. Right-handed only. Measures 5-1/2" closed. Weighs 8.0 oz. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.

You guys have outdone yourselves with this A.G. Russell 5 1/2 Framelock. I collect and use hard use folders. I also make A2 knives. This knife is by far the best, and most awesome folder I have ever had. At a $150 price point this knife performs like a $500 custom. I am extremely pleased with this big folder. Well done crew. Well done indeed. 10/10 Ronald H. Albuquerque, NM
