A.G. designed "traditional" knives, often based on existing patterns including the Doctor's Knife, in such a way that they resemble no knife the buyer has ever owned. In our Doctor's knife, he tweaked the spearpoint blade, giving it just a little different shape, but the most striking change is an A.G. version of the scalpel blade. Whenever possible, he included our "striker pin", which prevents the edge of the blade from striking the back spring, thus nicking the edge of the blade; and the knives are designed so that the blades all fit closely together without rubbing each other or the liners.

The 2-1⁄2" Zulu Spear blade and short (1-1⁄2") Scalpel blade are 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. This steel takes a razor edge and is easily re-sharpened on ceramic, diamonds, Aluminum-Oxide or Arkansas stones. With the striker pin, the edge of the blade will not hit the backspring no matter how roughly you close the knife. Made with the finest stainless steel bolsters, caps, liners and inlay. Measures 3" closed. Weighs 1.5 oz. Made in China. The synthetic It's Not Ivory handle scales are added in our shop in Rogers from a small supply we located from an earlier project. Because of the small quantity, I would not expect to see this knife make it to a catalog.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.
