When working on designs for slip joint or lockback folders, I try to stay as close to traditional as I can, while designing the finest folders that will fit in the pocket of a pair of slacks or blue jeans. When most of the American manufacturers of traditional pocketknives disappeared and production of those kinds of knives shrank in Germany and Japan, it became evident that we had to find manufacturers elsewhere that could make the quality we demand. That is how we found the tiny factory in China that is making these very high quality traditional folders for us. You will find it hard to believe that a factory-made folding knife can be made today with such precision, even to the polishing of the parts that show only on the inside of the knife. Open the blades, shine a flashlight down into the inside. It is polished clean. It is true that I can match this quality from a couple of makers in Japan, however the price would be three to five times the price. These knives are the best value in the world. If you do not agree, please return your purchase for a full and complete refund, including the return shipping when you mention this statement of my personal satisfaction guarantee.

The A.G. Russell 4-1⁄4" Lockback Folding Hunter is made with the finest stainless steel bolsters, caps, liners and inlay. The 3-5⁄8" flat ground blade measures 1" wide and 5⁄32" thick, and opens and closes smoothly on Teflon® washers between the stainless liners and the blade. A striker pin prevents the blade edge from striking the back spring, no matter how sharply you close the knife. The blade steel is our very popular 8Cr13MoV, heat-treated to 57-59 Rc. It takes a razor edge and is re-sharpened easily on ceramic, diamonds, Aluminum-Oxide or Arkansas stones.

Available in our special shade of Dupont's Yellow Delrin®, Smooth White Bone, Brown Jigged Bone or India Stag. Measures 4-1⁄4" closed. Stag weighs about 5.5 oz., bone about 5.3 oz. and yellow delrin® about 5.1 oz. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.

I recently ordered the Lockback Folding Hunter knife with yellow Delrin scales, and hoped it would arrive for the Wisconsin Deer opener. I had ordered late so didn't expect it. To my great surprise I got it in like 4 days. It went with me to the woods and I am happy to say, field dressed a nice sized Doe. It remained very sharp thru out the entire process, and cleaned up thoroughly (sometimes the deer fat just will not come off easily), and quickly. Thanks for the prompt mailing, and a great product.
