with Featherlight Steel Handle

If the new Skorpion™ looks sort of familiar, it may be because you have seen the handle shape used in other A. G. Russell designed knives. The K87, K93, K12 and our new mid lock 3" lockback all have this basic handle shape. This is the first time I have used the handle in a frame lock. I've used the frame lock because it allows a much wider blade. I wanted to use stainless steel for the handle in order to create a reliable lock, but did not want the weight. To accomplish both, Phil Gibbs and I came up with the Featherlite™ Steel handle. The weight in these handles is about the same as aluminum, but the steel provides greater strength. The Hinderer Stabilizer further strengthens the lock by not allowing the locking arm to flex. I believe that the weight saving feature of the NEW Featherlite steel handles will be the most copied feature in the knife business this next year.

This is a frame lock with a 3-7/16" hollow ground blade of 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. There are four (4) clip positions and two (2) clips: a deep pocket clip and a standard, high ride clip. I carry my prototype with the deep pocket clip in the tip-up carry position in my waist-band. This is truly an ambidextrous knife. Measures 4-1/4" closed and weighs ONLY 3.2 oz with the standard pocket clip installed. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.
