Genuine Black Lip Pearl

In the 1800s and early 1900s, knives were made as everyday tools. The Doctor's Knife was no exception. Doctors of the day definitely had a need for all the parts of this pattern; the square butt end for crushing pills, the longest main blade to assist in counting pills, and a scalpel for minor emergency surgeries.

I try to design "traditional" knives, often based on existing patterns, in such a way that they resemble no knife the buyer has ever owned. Whenever possible, I include our "striker pin", which prevents the edge of the blade from striking the back spring, thus nicking the edge of the blade; and the knives are designed so that the blades all fit closely without rubbing. We have managed to accomplish all of those elements in our small Doctor's knife.
You will find it hard to believe that production knives are available that are so clean inside as these fine knives made in our tiny factory in China. It is true that I can match this quality from a couple makers in Japan, but the cost is three to five times more. These knives are the best value in the world. If you do not agree, we ask that you return them for a full and complete refund.

The 2-1⁄2" Zulu Spear blade and short (1-1⁄2") Scalpel blade are 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. This steel is very popular with our customers. It takes a razor edge and is easily re-sharpened on ceramic, diamonds, Aluminum-Oxide or Arkansas stones. With the striker pin, the edge of the blade will not hit the backspring no matter how roughly you close the knife. Made with the finest stainless steel bolsters, caps, liners and inlay. Measures 3" closed. Weighs 1.5 oz. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III
