Benchmade's first collaboration with French knifemakers Patrick Famin and Eric Demongivert is this upgraded Friction Folder. Providing six different tools in a small package, the Aller™ is uniquely shaped and designed with travel in mind. A Friction Folder, in simple terms, is a non-locking knife. There is no locking mechanism and no detent to hold the blade in the closed position. The knife is held closed simply by the friction created between the washers and the handle material rubbing on the blade. It is secured in the open position by your hand wrapped around the handle and the "tang" of the blade as you use the knife. It can't be closed until you remove your hand.

The fact that the Aller is a friction folder, and its small size, is what makes it legal to carry almost anywhere. It has a 1-1⁄2" Modified Sheepsfoot blade (Benchmade calls it a Wharncliffe) of CPM-S30V stainless at 58-60 Rc., a screwdriver/pry tip, micro bit slot, a bottle opener and lanyard/keyring hole. Black G-10 handle scales over blue liners and blue anodized fittings and barrel spacers. Ships with a reversible pocket clip positioned for tip-up carry. Measures 3-1⁄4" closed. Weighs 1.8 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested retail is $160.00.
