Celebrating 100 Years - Limited to 500 Pieces Each

The Browning BAR rifle is one of those key products which have defined the Browning mystique throughout the last century. Much of the fame of today's sporting BAR began through the fame of the original military BAR designed by John M. Browning near the end of World War I. This rifle, called the BAR M1918, was commissioned by the U.S. Army in an effort to break the stalemate of trench warfare in the battlefields of France and Belgium. It is considered one of the first, and certainly one of the most effective, of all the automatic centerfire "light machine guns" ever made. Its official U.S. military use began in 1918 and continued until the Vietnam War. It was used primarily as a SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) for decades and proved very difficult to replace.

The BAR took John M. Browning three months to design. He took this project so seriously that his son Val personally did the testing and training of American troops. The sound made by a BAR became legendary. At 330 rounds per minute, every shot was distinguishable and the sound became uniquely associated with the BAR.

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the BAR, Browning has introduced two folding knives. Both have nickel silver handles with embossed images. The image on the sporting version is a hunter sighting in on a white tail. The military version features soldiers on patrol. The art on both sides of each knife is the same. The 2-1/8" drop point blade is 420HC stainless at 56-58 Rc.- with 100th Anniversary Patented 1917- etched on the blade and 1 of 500 on the tang. Measures 3-1/8" closed. Weighs 1.7 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested retail is $149.99.
