The Wihongi Signature Fixed Blade from Browning® was also designed in collaboration with Jared Wihongi. His concepts are based on his Maori heritage. The Maori were a Spartan-like society that developed over centuries of inter-tribal warfare in what is now New Zealand. The spirit of the Maori warrior is expressed in the ritual Haka, a war dance that's intended, among other things, to challenge and intimidate an enemy. Other conspicuous Maori symbols are stylized tattoos and carvings. These decorations are often added to their weapons to represent a warrior ancestor whose strength and courage goes with the weapon when you carry it into battle.
Jared and Browning have chosen a hollow ground 3-3⁄4" deep draft Reverse Tanto blade made of 7Cr17MoV stainless steel at 56-57 Rc. Like all the other knives in this series, the blade surface is etched with a Maori Warrior Tribal tattoo motif. The handle is black G-10 with machined checkering, sculpted finger grooves for improved grip in extreme conditions, and a lanyard hole. Ships in an injection molded sheath with a multi-positional clip and unique lock release system. Measures 8-5⁄8" overall and weighs 7.0 oz. Made in China. Suggested retail is $69.99.
