CRKT Carnufex
Item #: CL-5480
$49.95
Designed by Flavio Ikoma
The Carnufex™, which translates to butcher in Latin, takes it's name from what is believed to be a key predator that lived in what would become the eastern USA during the Triassic period, about 231 million years ago. The Carnufex Carolinensis, or Carolina Butcher, was an early ancestor of the modern day crocodile.
Flavio Ikoma of Presidente Prudente, Brazil designed the Carnufex™ to be an aggressive take on a general utility knife. This everyday carry folder's unique look is modeled on the prehistoric ancestor of the crocodile, and the streamlined design and textured inlays look distinctly reptilian.
The unique, eye-catching designs of the handle serve to set off the no-nonsense 3-7⁄8" drop point plain edge blade of 8Cr13MoV stainless at 58-60 Rc. Flavio Ikoma is the inventor of the IKBS™ Ball Bearing Pivot System and puts it to work with the Carnufex™. The stainless steel stonewashed handle has a textured, glass-reinforced nylon inlay meant to replicate the prehistoric reptile for which it is named. Measures 5-1⁄8" closed. Weighs 5.6 oz. Made in China. Suggested retail is $79.99.
