In 2014 Kershaw Knives and Emerson Knives teamed up on a series of knives that combine the precision engineering of Kershaw with Emerson's uncompromising functional design. Each knife in this series featured Emerson's wave shaped opening feature, also known as the remote pocket opener. These knives have been very popular. One of the newest additions, the CQC-11K is based on the Emerson Rendezvous. Designed originally as a hunting knife it is equally adept for survival, camping, bushcrafting or for just about any other outdoor activity.

The CQC-11K featuers a big bellied skinning blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel that will hold an edge well and then resharpens easily when needed. The stonewashed finish on the blade looks good and helps to hide any hard use scratches. The tan G-10 front handle scale helps give you a secure grip. The back handle scale is bead-blasted stainless steel and features a sturdy frame lock. Of course, the knife is also equipped with the Emerson "wave shaped opening feature".

The Wave shaped feature is a hook curving out the top of the knife's blade. When removing the knife from a front pocket the Wave catches the pocket's edge quickly moving the knife blade into the ready to use. The knife can also be taken out of the pocket without engaging the Wave Opening Feature by pulling it straight up and out with your fingers on top of the closed blade.

The pocket clip is reversible with a right or left-hand tip-up carry position.

The 3-1/2" modified skinner blade has hardness of 58-60 Rc. The closed length is 4-7/8". Weighs 5.8 oz. Made in China. Suggested Retail $59.99.

Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 in Portland, Oregon when knife salesman Pete Kershaw started a cutlery company that would make knives from his designs. Japanese based KAI Cutlery manufactured those designs. In 1978, KAI Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives and the company, renamed KAI USA Ltd., continues today with three product lines; including the original Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, and Shun Cutlery which primarily markets kitchen cutlery.

Over the years, Kershaw Knives has worked with several custom knifemakers. Cutlery Hall of Famer Ken Onion, a custom knife maker and inventor of the “SpeedSafe” assisted opening mechanism, is the premier knife designer for Kershaw Knives. Kershaw has also collaborated with custom knifemakers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante, and Ernest Emerson. Kershaw has released models that were developed in collaboration with National Geographic, Jeep, Orange County Choppers, the American Professional Rodeo Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Kershaw manufactures excellent knives and has built a very strong customer fan base due to their innovative designs and their quality control.
