New for 2017. The Deadline from Kershaw and Matt Diskin features Kershaw's new Tuned Detent System (TDS)™. TDS puts the detent ball on the front scale of the knife in an inset steel plate. This plate enables Kershaw to “fine tune" the detent so that it's perfect—not too heavy, not too light. With TDS, opening a manual flipper knife like this is as easy as opening any other flipper.

Both the blade and handle features a two-toned finish. Featuring grey PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating in the grinds and hollows and a satin finish on the flats. The result is a knife with a very distinctive look that walks the line between classy and tactical.

A strong frame lock secures the blade open during use. The handle features a decorative glass-filled nylon backspacer in matte black and a moveable steel filler tab so the look is nicely detailed and neatly finished. The pocketclip is Kershaw's deep-carry pocketclip so that the knife rides comfortably low in your pocket.

The 3-1/4" modified Wharncliffe blade features a top swedge and is made from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel with a hardness of 58-60 Rc. The closed length is 4-1/4". Weighs 4.6 oz. Made in China. Suggested Retail $49.99.

Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 in Portland, Oregon when knife salesman Pete Kershaw started a cutlery company that would make knives from his designs. Japanese based KAI Cutlery manufactured those designs. In 1978, KAI Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives and the company, renamed KAI USA Ltd., continues today with three product lines; including the original Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, and Shun Cutlery which primarily markets kitchen cutlery.

Over the years, Kershaw Knives has worked with several custom knifemakers. Cutlery Hall of Famer Ken Onion, a custom knife maker and inventor of the “SpeedSafe” assisted opening mechanism, is the premier knife designer for Kershaw Knives. Kershaw has also collaborated with custom knifemakers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante, and Ernest Emerson. Kershaw has released models that were developed in collaboration with National Geographic, Jeep, Orange County Choppers, the American Professional Rodeo Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Kershaw manufactures excellent knives and has built a very strong customer fan base due to their innovative designs and their quality control.
