From the Manufacturer:

You want a knife that's different? You want an Identity. With its black-and-grey coloring, the Identity has a tactical look. But it's a tactical look with a difference.
The broad drop-point blade flows into the patterned handle, which tapers to a slim end. A larger bolster and the unusual texturing on both sides of the handle enable your hand to lock in securely as you grip the knife.

In keeping with its name, the pattern on the handle scales is inspired by a unique part of a person's identity—the fingerprint. Concentric fingerprint-like circles give the Kershaw Identity an unusual look as well as enhancing grip. The blade is 8Cr13MoV stainless steel for good edge retention and easy resharpening; black-oxide coating makes it non-reflective, too.

The blade opens quickly and easily with SpeedSafe assisted opening. The handle is steel with a textured glass-filled nylon front scale and machined texture on the back, too. A frame lock makes blade lock up easy and secure. The knife's deep-carry clip is left/right reversible and makes the Identity especially discreet to carry.

The 3-1/2" drop point blade has hardness of 58-60 Rc. The closed length is 4-1/2". Weighs 6.3 oz. Made in China. Suggested Retail $39.99.

Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 in Portland, Oregon when knife salesman Pete Kershaw started a cutlery company that would make knives from his designs. Japanese based KAI Cutlery manufactured those designs. In 1978, KAI Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives and the company, renamed KAI USA Ltd., continues today with three product lines; including the original Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, and Shun Cutlery which primarily markets kitchen cutlery.

Over the years, Kershaw Knives has worked with several custom knifemakers. Cutlery Hall of Famer Ken Onion, a custom knife maker and inventor of the “SpeedSafe” assisted opening mechanism, is the premier knife designer for Kershaw Knives. Kershaw has also collaborated with custom knifemakers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante, and Ernest Emerson. Kershaw has released models that were developed in collaboration with National Geographic, Jeep, Orange County Choppers, the American Professional Rodeo Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Kershaw manufactures excellent knives and has built a very strong customer fan base due to their innovative designs and their quality control.
