From the Manufacturer:

The sturdy Valmara benefits from designer Les George's 22 years as a custom knifemaker, his US Marine background, and his solid understanding of how tools are used in the real world. Even better? Les named it for an Italian bounding fragmentation landmine. The drop-point blade has a slight recurve for excellent slicing and multi-tasking capabilities. A top swedge thins the blade at the point, improving piercing. 8Cr13MoV blade steel ensures this blade takes and holds its sharp edge. The stonewashed finish looks good, hides scratches.

You'll get a good hold on the handle thanks to its full contouring and heavy "S" surface texture. The knife is fast and easy to open with SpeedSafe assisted opening and the built-in flipper. Boom; and the Valmara is ready to rock. A sturdy liner lock secures the blade while you're working.

The Valmara is also equipped with a pre-drilled lanyard hole and a left/right reversible pocketclip. You will appreciate how this solid, larger knife feels in your hand and how it takes on just about any task you've got in mind.

The 3" modified drop point blade has hardness of 58-60 Rc. The handle measures 4" and is made from glass-filled nylon that is textured for a secure grip. Weighs 3.9 oz. Made in China. Suggested Retail $39.99.

Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 in Portland, Oregon when knife salesman Pete Kershaw started a cutlery company that would make knives from his designs. Japanese based KAI Cutlery manufactured those designs. In 1978, KAI Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives and the company, renamed KAI USA Ltd., continues today with three product lines; including the original Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, and Shun Cutlery which primarily markets kitchen cutlery.

Over the years, Kershaw Knives has worked with several custom knifemakers. Cutlery Hall of Famer Ken Onion, a custom knife maker and inventor of the “SpeedSafe” assisted opening mechanism, is the premier knife designer for Kershaw Knives. Kershaw has also collaborated with custom knifemakers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante, and Ernest Emerson. Kershaw has released models that were developed in collaboration with National Geographic, Jeep, Orange County Choppers, the American Professional Rodeo Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Kershaw manufactures excellent knives and has built a very strong customer fan base due to their innovative designs and their quality control.
