6" Blade – Buckeye Burl Handle

Randy Lee's Sub-Hilt Fighter is currently his most popular model with our customers. We have asked him to make a new version with a 6" blade in addition to the 5-1⁄2" blade he is already making for us. He had stabilized California Buckeye Burl available and has used that for the main part of the handle. He has delivered eight and is in the process of making ten more. We expect the limit for 2020 to be about twenty-four. The knife with a 5-1⁄5" blade and Antique Ivory Micarta® or Desert Ironwood are still on our website at http://www.agrussell.com/RandyLee. Those are usually not in stock, but can be special ordered.

This new version has a multiple layer handle built of California Buckeye Burl and rings of Tan Micarta® and Pinecone embedded in Resin, with nickel silver spacers between those rings. The hilt, sub-hilt and butt cap are nickel silver. The 6-1⁄8" swedged clip point blade is mirror polished CPM-154 at 60-61 Rc. Measures 11-1⁄8" overall. Weighs 11.8 oz. Ships with a hand-tooled, brown cowhide leather sheath made by Randy's wife Sonja.

Randy Lee

Randy made his first knife in a high school shop class. He remained fascinated and years later, after studying with local makers, he decided to get serious and buy the proper equipment; this was 1979. It was 1988, however, before he attended his first knife show. Since then he attends about six shows a year. A serious hunter, Randy field tests all of his designs. He wants them to work as well as they look. He is fortunate to have a wife who can make and decorate such fine sheaths. His sheaths are definitely a step above what is typical on knives of this price level.
