Blackie Collins Inspired Lock

We introduced the A.G. Russell Powerball series in 2017. A.G. chose the name Powerball, referring to the fact that the blade rides on a ring of "caged" ball bearings that surround the knife's pivot. This enables the blade to move out of the handle smoothly, creating a manual opening folder that can usually be opened as fast as a spring-assist opening folder.

This new one has a very different aesthetic than previous knives in the series and a very different lock. This is the first that is not a linerlock. The lock was inspired by one designed years ago by Blackie Collins for Gerber Legendary Blades – the Bolt Action Lock.

The 3-1/4" hand-rubbed clip-point blade is D2 at 60-61 Rc. The liners, bolsters and clip are stainless steel. Open frame handle with G10 scales. The Green G10 is accented with a copper color pivot ring. The Blue with a red pivot ring. Clip can be positioned for right or left-handed carry. Measures 4-1/4" closed. Weighs 3.7 oz. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.
