Knives with VG-10 Japanese Steel Knives

High grade steel made in Japan. The name means V Gold 10, meaning Gold quality or Gold standard. It is a stainless steel with a fine grain, capable of a very fine, sharp edge - much finer than many other steels. It was originally marketed to Japanese Chefs, but it has become a favorite in the knife community abroad. Most VG-10 steel knives are made in Japan. Spyderco especially has made VG-10 a famous steel. VG-10 holds an excellent edge, and is fairly stain resistant. VG-10 blades will definitely cost more than other steels, but you pay for what you get. VG-10 tends to be on the brittle side, so care should be taken when using it. It's not a beating steel, it's for very fine cutting.
0.95 - 1.05 Carbon, 0.5 Manganese, 14.5 - 15.5 Chromium, 0.10 - 0.30 Vanadium, 0.90 - 1.20 Molybedenum.
