Order Details

For decades, until the company was sold, A.G. had his kitchen knives made by Anton Wingen in Solingen, Germany.

Up until a few weeks ago, I thought we had sold the last of those in late 2005 to early 2006. While sorting through closets in this building we keep finding knives that have been stashed away for one reason or another. We found trays of the 8" Chef's Knife and the 6" Cook's Knife. We also found a few of the Pot Forks, unfortunately not a lot. A.G. and I have been trying for years to find a manufacturer to make this fork, with no success. It is highly functional and also very elegant.

The blade steel in the knives is German High Carbon Stainless; much finer than what is used in most kitchen knives today. This means that the blades will hold an edge two to three times longer. The blades are ground to a very thin edge, and will slice meat, fruit and vegetables extremely well. Do not use them for chopping frozen food, bones or ice. Never soak a quality knife in the sink or put them in the dishwasher where excess heat and moisture will ruin the handle and the abraisiveness of the water and detergent will destroy the edge.

The Wood Rucarta™ handle scales make a very comfortable, functional and attractive handle. The knives and the fork were all made in Solingen, Germany. The mark on some of the blades is different than those shown. The overwhelming majority of what we found have the mark shown. Those were made prior to 1989, perhaps as early as the 1970's. Sorry, we cannot assure which ones you will get.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.
