A proper hoof-pick is an absolutely necessary piece of equipment for anyone who rides a horse. This handy folding knife serves that purpose and is a fine every day carry pocketknife. A number of years ago, we introduced what we called the A. G. Russell™ Rider's Knife. For our new version, we tweaked the design, renamed it, changed manufacturers and added bone as a handle choice. We also added a pocket clip to the Bone version. Due to the nature of the surface of Stag, we did not add a clip to those knives.

This is a Trapper pattern with a 3-3⁄8" drop point blade of 8Cr13MoV stainless at 57-59 Rc. It is a slip-joint knife (no lock) with a hoof-pick second blade that is thicker than the main blade to make it safe when used in the horse's hoof. The liners, bolsters, caps and Federal Shield inlay are all highest  quality stainless steel.

I designed this knife and it is made to my standards of fit, finish, and quality by one of my most trusted makers. Measures 4-1⁄8" closed. Weighs  about 5.6 oz. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.
