To design this knife, A.G. collected the finest frame-locks in the marketplace, those of Chris Reeve,  H. P. Klotzli, and Bob Dozier. He and Phil Gibbs tore them down and studied the design and engineering that made those knives stand so high above other frame-lock knives on the market. They used what A.G. considered the best features from each of those makers' knives, then he added some of his own to create the best functioning frame-lock folder available at any price. The first and second versions were made in the United States using Japanese ZDP-189 for the blade. We have moved production to the finest builder of folding knives in Taiwan for the newest version and chose American CPM-S30V for the blade steel.

The handle frame is Ti6Al4V titanium, pocketed to reduce weight, with a hardened steel insert at the end of the titanium locking arm where it engages the blade. This insert ensures that there is no wear and that the lock will hold under long and heavy use. The insert also acts as a "stabilizer", to avoid over-push of the locking arm.

The 3-5⁄8" modified drop-point blade is CPM-S30V at 59-61 Rc. It measures 1-1⁄8" wide and fills the Titanium handle with more blade to handle than you will find in most knives. The four-position stainless steel deep pocket clip allows the knife to ride completely submerged in the pocket. Measures 4-5⁄8" closed. Weighs 4.0 oz.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

I love everything about this knife [A.G. Russell Acies]. The walk and talk is outstanding. I can't put this knife down. Thanks for making such a quality piece of cutlery. Rating: 10/10 Sylvester M. Longview, TX
