The Pilar® was designed by Jesper Voxnaes, who named it after Ernest Hemingway's beloved boat—the 38-foot long vessel that he used for renegade surveillance of German U-boats in Caribbean waters during WWII. The Pilar family has grown to include several reiterations of the popular folder. The Pilar III is the spearpoint version, currently selling with two blade steel options: 8Cr13MoV or D2.
For this short run, CRKT is offering this upgraded version to only a select few of their "Key Partners". This version is all-black: the blade is black oxide coated, all hardware is black finished. The obverse handle side is black G10 with a hammered texture. The reverse frame-lock side of the handle is black coated stainless steel.
The 3" modified spearpoint blade is 12c27 stainless at 59-61 Rc. for finer edge retention and enhanced performance. The IKBS™ bearings ensure a smooth deployment. The blade is deployed with a thumb slot opening and is secured with a frame-lock. Measures 4-1/4" closed. Weighs 2.5 oz. Made in China. Suggested retail is $69.99.
