The special knives that Case® offers to dealers at trade shows are limited to the quantities that are ordered during those shows. They are all highly collectible because the quantity is very limited. The Baby Doc is a knife that was offered only at the 2025 S.H.O.T. Show in Las Vegas. We only have 50 on our shelves; I expect these to sell out quickly. If you are a collector of Case knives, you may recognize this one. In 2018, as a S.H.O.T. Show special, Case offered the larger Doctor's knife just like this.

The Doctor's knife is probably one of the easier to recognize knife patterns available. It is believed to be one of the earliest patterns made by Case around the late 1800s to early 1900s. The Doctor's knife was designed specifically as a tool for doctors to crush pills into a powder (a necessary process at the time) using the uniquely shaped, flat, square rear bolster.

This Baby Doc has red jigged bone handle scales with a U.S.A. flag shield and USA etched in the nickel silver bolster. Brass liners and pins. The blades are a 2-1⁄4" pen and spatula blade of Tru-Sharp Surgical Stainless at 55-57 Rc. Measures 2-3⁄4" closed. Weighs 1.3 oz. Made in Bradford, PA, U.S.A. Suggested retail is $107.50.

Case Knives

W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is an American manufacturer of traditional pocket knives, limited edition commemoratives and collectibles. It makes American made traditional pocket knives in a variety of patterns, blade styles, and handle materials. They are particularly well known for their specialized dying process - creating beautiful and colorful bone handles. Case prefers to use their proprietary Tru-Sharp stainless steel. Tru-Sharp sharpens and polishes easily and is enjoyed by collectors all over.

The roots of the company span all the way back to 1889. W.,R. Case & Sons notably made knives in World War 1, notably the M3 Fighting Knife for servicemen and the V-42 stiletto for the Devil’s Brigade. They also made knives for NASA astronauts for when they touched back down on earth and were waiting to be picked up. The Case Company is currently owned by the Zippo Manufacturing Company, based in the same city, which is well known for their Zippo lighters. You can see great synergy between the companies as they share equipment and expertise like inlaid dyed bone handles and laser engraving machinery.
