Bob Dozier has talked for years about the debt owed to Loveless by the knifemaking community. Most of today's knifemakers are unaware of either man's legacy, yet the two makers who they most often copy (even if the maker is unaware of the original source) are Robert W. Loveless and Robert L. Dozier, the first for his magnificent designs and the second for his very basic, hunter oriented, simple knives.
While many, if not most, knifemakers have based a good portion of their knives on Bob Loveless designs, none have done more than take the basic shape and style and then inject their own ideas into the finished knives. Dozier takes features from past Loveless knives and makes an effort to produce the finest possible example. That is very much true of this Dozier Loveless style Utility Hunter.
The 3-3/8" clip point blade is D2 with Bob's heat treat at 59-61 Rc. The handle scales are India Stag over thin red liners on a full, strongly tapered tang. Stainless bolts and thong hole liner. Measures about 7-1/2" from tip to butt. Weighs 5.1 oz. The sheath is handmade by Dozier and is of a quality to match the knife.
