New Handle Material

Back in the 1990s A. G. designed a hunting knife for Randall to make just for A.G. Russell™ customers. Over the years we have introduced different variations. The knife has been made with a 4" blade, a 4-1/2" blade and a 5" blade. There have been knives with Stag, Desert Ironwood and Ivorite handles and one model even had finger grooves. This model is our latest version with a handle suggested by the Randall shop. The center part of the handle is Thuya Wood. The spacers at the guard and at the butt include a wide coral/red colored micarta spacer separated from the wood with two thin black fiber spacers and separated from the brass guard and butt cap by a red fiber spacer.

The 4-1/2" blade measures 1-5/32" wide at the widest point and is 3/16" thick. Made of O-1 high carbon tool steel (non-stainless) at about 54 Rc. The sheath has the words “A.G. Russell Special” around the Randall Stamp on the back. Measures 9" from tip to butt Weighs 8.3 oz. Includes a brown leather sheath. Handmade in the U.S.A. For O-1 blades, we suggest that you apply our RustFree™ to the blade after you have thoroughly cleaned it. (RF125 . . . . . $8.95)

Randall Made Knives

For over 75 years, Randall knives have been the best-known handmade knives in the world. No two Randall Made™ knives are exactly alike, for no jigs or patterns are used in their final construction. Large-scale commercial production with this kind of attention to detail is not feasible and that's why knives of this unique quality are not widely available.

Gary Randall, the present owner, took over from his father, W. D. "Bo" Randall, in the mid 1970's and the shop remains so busy that today it takes over five years to get a knife directly from them. We are one of the few authorized Randall dealers, and try to keep a stock of their knives. Because our orders with Randall are booked years in advance, if we don't have the knife that you want in stock, we can usually have it for you about 10 months, knives with stag will take a year or more. For anyone wanting to order directly from Randall the price will be lower but the wait will be extremely long.
