Randy Lee Dagger w/ Spalted Maple Handle
Item #: RLK-D578SM
$1,325.00
Randy Lee began making a dagger for A.G. Russell Knives toward the end of 2021 that was really popular with our customers. The first version had Faux Ivory for the largest portion of the handle, the second version used Thuya Wood. Both of those were beautiful, but now I wanted a different handle material. In digging through all the wood and other materials we have accumulated, I found a box of the perfect size Spalted Maple. This material has been setting in a room near my office for well over a decade. It was well dryed and stabilized. I located enough small Faux Ivory pieces along with some brass and thin double black Rucarta™ to make a few knives. As Paul Harvey used to say, this knife is "the rest of the story".
There was enough of all the materials to make only 12 knives – so very limited.
The 6" dagger blade is CPM-154 stainless at 59-60 Rc. with a high mirror polish. It measures right at 1" wide at the widest point. The narrow tang handle is Spalted Maple with spacers of synthetic ivory and double black Rucarta™, separated by thin brass spacers. The guard and butt are nickel silver. Measures 11" tip to butt. Weighs 9.7 oz. Includes a hand tooled brown leather sheath made by Randy's wife Sonja. All handmade in the U.S.A.

Randy Lee
Randy made his first knife in a high school shop class. He remained fascinated and years later, after studying with local makers, he decided to get serious and buy the proper equipment; this was 1979. It was 1988, however, before he attended his first knife show. Since then he attends about six shows a year. A serious hunter, Randy field tests all of his designs. He wants them to work as well as they look. He is fortunate to have a wife who can make and decorate such fine sheaths. His sheaths are definitely a step above what is typical on knives of this price level.
