Kiku Matsuda is a fifth generation Japanese knife grinder with over forty years of experience. He is well known in the knife industry for his unique grinds. At the 2007 Blade Show, along with SOG®, he presented a new concept in knifemaking called the reverse collaboration, winning the Best Collaboration Award. Kiku and Spencer Frazier from SOG worked together on the design for a large fixed blade knife and then Kiku made the knife by hand.

A few years later, SOG announced that they had again collaborated with Kiku on a production folder that was inspired by the original SOG Kiku fixed blade. A few different variations have been released since.

For 2021 SOG has come out with a new lighter, muscular model of the folder using their XR Lock. The LTE (Light Edition) utilizes high-strength carbon fiber liners and spacers that free up weight in the handle.  Giving the user the benefit of a mid-sized knife that is a lightweight tool you can trust. The Kiku XR LTE is a lightweight folder designed for all the challenges of the outdoors. This large-format folder is built around SOG's ultra-strong XR locking mechanism, while the CTS XHP steel blade offers a high degree of corrosion resistance and excellent edge retention.

The modified tanto blade measures 3". The handle scales are black linen Micarta or orange G-10. Available with a black TiNi coated CTS-XHP stainless blade with a hardness of 58-60 Rc. Has deep carry pocket clip that is black coated and is reversible for a right or left-hand carry. Made in China. Suggested retail $255.95.
