The owners of Spartan Blades say they chose Ares, the name of the god of war in Greek mythology, for this fighter because it is the result of many years of combined knifemaking experience directed towards creating the ideal fighting knife. The Spartan Ares is manufactured for the modern warrior. It is a military grade fighting / utility knife, with several distinctive features designed to assist the serious military professional. It was engineered both for, and with the input of various U.S. Special Operations Forces and other government agencies.
The Ares has a 5-1/2" full-tang drop point blade of CPM-S35VN stainless at 59-60 Rc. This style blade puts strength in the blade tip by placing it in line with the user's hand while keeping the upward curve of the cutting edge. The precision double ground blade leaves the full thickness of the steel through the center creating a very durable and reliable blade. We have chosen two variations. One with handle scales of Black Canvas Micarta® with a PVD DLC “Flat Black" coating on the blade and the other with handle scales of Green Canvas Micarta® with a PVD “Flat Dark Earth" coating on the blade. Each includes a MOLLE compatible black nylon sheath with a hard insert. Measures 10-1/2" overall. Weighs 7.0 oz. Made in the U.S.A.

Spartan Blades
In 2008, Mark Carey and Curtis Iovito started Spartan Blades in a pre-Civil War mule barn in the Sandhills of North Carolina. Both were Special Forces Soldiers with a combined military experience of 40+ years. Their knives are made in the United States with most of the work being preformed by veterans. They use only the very best materials available to them, and only that which is made in the U.S.A. Because of their commitment to quality and drive for success they are a recognized name in the knife industry as well as an award winning company. As of the 2018 Blade Show, they have received five (5) Knife of the Year™ awards in their short ten years, including Knife Collaboration of the Year™ in 2014 for the V-14 Dagger, their first collaboration with the gifted and prolific knifemaker Les George.
