C.Q.I., or Constant Quality Improvement, is a process used by Spyderco to update and refine longstanding knife designs. Sometimes the improvements are large and noticeable; sometimes they are just a small refinement. One of the latest to go through this process is the Dragonfly2. Spyderco has kept everything you would expect in the Dragonfly: the mid-sized 2-1/4" leaf-shaped blade with customary round hole, front finger choil ergonomic handle, and the expected Spyderco quality. Also staying the same is the blade to handle geometry and leveraging points.
One of the tradeoffs of compact knives is that they are somewhat more challenging to deploy one handed. The new Dragonfly 2 Emerson Opener solves that problem by enhancing the popular Dragonfly 2 Lightweight with an Emerson Opener -- an integral hook that snags the top of the pocket to automatically open the blade as the knife is drawn.
Sporting a distinctive dark gray FRN handle with non-slip Bi-Directional Texturing™, this high-speed version of the Dragonfly 2 proudly includes all the other defining features of this popular model.
The blade is VG-10 stainless steel at 60-62 Rc. with a plain edge. Measures 3-1/4" closed and weighs 1.3 oz. Made in Japan. Suggested retail is $115.50.
