This Military 2 model is a Sprint Run, a special production run of a knife not found in Spyderco's regular product line. Every Sprint Run is a unique, one time only event; it may be a distinctive version of a current model or a discontinued model. This version of the Military 2 model proudly showcases the CPM 15V steel. Created by Crucible Industries, CPM 15V is a state-of-the-art particle metallurgy tool steel with an extremely high vanadium content. Its unique alloy composition offers superior wear resistance, a quality that translates to extreme sharpness and edge retention in knife blades.
The full flat-ground blade maximizes these properties with a specialized heat-treating protocol developed by renowned custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. Consistent with the signature theme of this Sprint Run family, the handle of this Para Military 2 features brown peel-ply-textured G-10 scales and the reverse side of the blade is laser engraved with Shawn Houston's "Triple B" logo.
The broad, modified clip point blade offers amazing edge geometry and cutting performance. An oversized Trademark Round Hole™ proudly identifies it as a Spyderco product and ensures swift, reliable, one-handed opening with either hand—even while wearing gloves. Paired with a lightweight, open backed handle construction that has nested stainless steel liners, and a sturdy Compression Lock mechanism. The spacers between the handle scales create a gap running the full length of the handle exposing the inside workings for inspection and cleaning. The pocket clip is reversible for a tip up or down right or left-hand carry. The modified clip point blade measures 4" with a satin finish and has a hardness of 60-61 Rc. Measures 5-1/2" closed.
