This new knife from Spyderco is a collaboration design with Butch Vallotton, a knifemaker who is credited with inventing the ambidextrous blade thumb stud. The Vallotton Sub-Hilt Folder features the ambidextrous thumb stud that opens the blade (in addition to the Spyderco Round Hole) and doubles as a stop pin keeping the blade from rotating open beyond the locked position. The knife bears a resemblance to the Itailian-style heavy-stock folders.
The handle is made of polished black G-10 with tonge-an-groove fitted stainless steel bolsters. Using a Walker Lock to secure the open blade. The modified tanto blade is made of CPM-S30V with a hardness of 59-61 Rc. The blade is hollow-ground at the cutting edge and measures 3-3/4" in length. The handle measures 5" and has a reversible/removable pocket clip. Weighs 6.3 oz. Made in Taiwan. Suggested Retail is $410.00.
