The name is not necessarily attractive, but what it lacks in elegance this knife delivers in usefulness. Custom knifemaker and metalworker Alan Folts really knows how to get the most into a small fixed blade design. The S.P.E.W. (Small Pocket Everyday Wharncliffe) is a slimmed down design for easy carry and all around blade utility. This knife is small and lightweight but thanks to the unusual geometry of the hand-contoured resin impregnated fiber scales, friction grooves, finger choil and braided fob, it provides surprising comfort and control.
The full-tang Wharncliffe blade measures 3" and is 5Cr15MoV stainless at 55-57 Rc. The overall length is 6-1/4" and it weighs 3.0 oz. The custom fitted glass filled nylon sheath secures the knife while offering a variety of carry styles. Made in China. Suggested retail $44.99.
