Since it's introduction at the 2001 S.H.O.T. Show, the Scallion has been one of Kershaw's most popular knives. Ken Onion designed, the orginal had injection-molded polyamide handle scales and like most other Onion designs, featured Ken's Speed-Safe torsion bar mechanism for smooth assisted opening.

These versions have 6061-T6 anodized aluminum handle scales over steel liners. The handles are available in three different colors: navy blue, olive drab green or purple.

Anodizing enables the aluminum to help resist scratching and actually strengthens the aluminum so you get a handle that is strong, lightweight and colorful. The blade steel is 420 high carbon stainless that give you a good edge retention and excellent corrosion resistance. The blade has been bead-blasted to give it a soft, matte look. With the added SpeedSafe assisted opening and the abidextrous flipper the Scallion is quick and easy to open. Comes with a single position tip-up carry pocket clip that is removable.

The 2-3/8" recurve plain edge blade has a hardness of 55-57 Rc. Measures 3-1/2" closed. Liner style lock for secure carry. Weighs 2.7 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested retail $109.99.

Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 in Portland, Oregon when knife salesman Pete Kershaw started a cutlery company that would make knives from his designs. Japanese based KAI Cutlery manufactured those designs. In 1978, KAI Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives and the company, renamed KAI USA Ltd., continues today with three product lines; including the original Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, and Shun Cutlery which primarily markets kitchen cutlery.

Over the years, Kershaw Knives has worked with several custom knifemakers. Cutlery Hall of Famer Ken Onion, a custom knife maker and inventor of the “SpeedSafe” assisted opening mechanism, is the premier knife designer for Kershaw Knives. Kershaw has also collaborated with custom knifemakers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante, and Ernest Emerson. Kershaw has released models that were developed in collaboration with National Geographic, Jeep, Orange County Choppers, the American Professional Rodeo Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Kershaw manufactures excellent knives and has built a very strong customer fan base due to their innovative designs and their quality control.
