Item #: SPC41CBL
$157.95
Released in 1997, the Native quickly set the standard as an affordable, ergonomic and lightweight folder and has been a constant in the Spyderco product line. Part of Spyderco's C.Q.I. (Constant Quality Improvement) program, the Native design has evolved over time yet staying true to its roots. In 2012 the Native 5 was born after extensive engineering refinements and years of manufacturing experience.
Spyderco has long been an industry leader in the use of exotic, high-performance blade steels. After years of using the best materials the world's leading steel manufacturers could provide, they decided it was time to create their own. In close cooperation with Crucible® Industries, Spyderco has developed CPM SPY27—a particle metallurgy stainless steel containing a proprietary mix of alloys, including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen, and cobalt.
This remarkable composition, enhanced by the amplifying effects of cobalt and the state-of-the-art Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, is produced exclusively for Spyderco and will be featured in select USA-made models. Every knife made with this steel will also have a distinctive cobalt-blue handle color that highlights its elite pedigree.
This Native 5 Lightweight showcases the exclusive CPM SPY27 blade steel in a signature cobalt-blue fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle. The 3" full-flat-ground drop point blade has a hardness of 60-61 Rc. The closed length measures 4". The lockback mechanism holds the blade securely in the open position. With the blade's Trademark Round Hole™ and the handle's versatile reversible tip-up pocket clip, makes both the carry and operation of this knife completely ambidextrous. Weighs 2.4 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Suggested Retail $210.00.

Spyderco
In 1981, Spyderco ventured into the world of knife making by introducing their first folding knife, the C01 Worker. This knife was the first in the industry to feature a round hole in the blade design that allowed for fast, one-hand opening, now the company’s trademark, and the first to feature a pocket clip. The trademarked round hole is the most recognizable feature of a Spyderco knife and it facilitates the easy opening and closing of these knives with one hand while also offering convenient access and maximum control while opening as well as accommodating large, small or gloved hands.
Spyderco’s recognizable appearance is a result of designing ergonomically functional tools rather than applying lipstick and nylons to a pocketknife. Spyderco’s knives may look unusual, but they will never be called unusable or undependable. When you purchase a Spyderco knife, you are buying a high quality reliable cutting tool that was designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
