The Flatbed by Kershaw is a Tactical Starter Series design, the tanto blade is great for those piercing cuts. This assisted folder has a BlackWash™ blade finish. This is a variation of the Stone Wash blade finish which has become very popular over the past few years. BlackWash is accomplished by first coating the blade black and then adding the stonewash finish. This coating gives the knife that already broken-in look, like your favorite pair of jeans. It is great for hiding those hard use scratches.

The 3" tanto blade is made of 8Cr13MoV steel with a hardness of 58-60 Rc. A BlackWash steel inlay adds a stealthy layer to the G10-textured handle. The overall profile is designed to be big without becoming overbearing, and the deep-carry pocketclip makes it easy to carry. Like a reliable pickup truck, this Starter Series tactical knife works hard and gets the job done.

Features the patented SpeedSafe® assisted opening system for smooth, easy opening. This one-handed, index-finger opening design makes the knives easy to deploy, left or right-handed. The closed length is 4-1/4". Weighs 3.2 oz. Made in China. Suggested Retail $49.99.

Kershaw Knives

Kershaw Knives was founded in 1974 in Portland, Oregon when knife salesman Pete Kershaw started a cutlery company that would make knives from his designs. Japanese based KAI Cutlery manufactured those designs. In 1978, KAI Cutlery purchased Kershaw Knives and the company, renamed KAI USA Ltd., continues today with three product lines; including the original Kershaw Knives, Zero Tolerance Knives, and Shun Cutlery which primarily markets kitchen cutlery.

Over the years, Kershaw Knives has worked with several custom knifemakers. Cutlery Hall of Famer Ken Onion, a custom knife maker and inventor of the “SpeedSafe” assisted opening mechanism, is the premier knife designer for Kershaw Knives. Kershaw has also collaborated with custom knifemakers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante, and Ernest Emerson. Kershaw has released models that were developed in collaboration with National Geographic, Jeep, Orange County Choppers, the American Professional Rodeo Association, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Kershaw manufactures excellent knives and has built a very strong customer fan base due to their innovative designs and their quality control.
