After years of using the best materials the world's leading steel manufacturers could provide, they decided it was time to create their own. In close cooperation with Crucible® Industries, Spyderco has developed CPM SPY27- a particle metallurgy stainless steel containing a proprietary mix of alloys, including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen, and cobalt. This remarkable composition, enhanced by the amplifying effects of cobalt and the state-of-the-art Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, is produced exclusively for Spyderco. Every knife made with this steel has a distinctive cobalt-blue handle color that highlights its elite pedigree.
The Dragonfly has been a mainstay of the Spyderco product line for decades and still sets the standard when it comes to packing serious cutting performance into a compact package that offers a four-fingered grip. The satin finished, full-flat ground blade of this Dragonfly 2 takes advantage of the steel and is paired with a lightweight fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle injection molded in the distinctive cobalt blue. The handle also houses the knife's sturdy back lock mechanism and a reversible deep-pocket wire pocket clip that provides a choice of left or right-side tip-up carry.
The satin finished blade features a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole™ for quick, one-handed opening with either hand. The 2-1/4" blade is leaf-shaped and has a hardness of 60-62 Rc. The injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales are the signature cobalt-blue color. Includes a lockback and a tip-up wire pocket clip is reversible to allow for left-hand or right-hand opening. Measures 3-1/4" closed and weighs 1.3 oz. Made in Japan. Suggested retail is $126.00.
