Order Details

This design grabbed my attention the first time I saw it. I immediately made a deal with Daniel Crotts to be the only dealer allowed to sell the knife being made in the Dozier Arkansas Made shop, and we made arrangements for me to make an A. G. Russell Crotts Designed Black Widow Caper and sheath in China.

The knife Daniel is making in the Dozier shop has been equally popular with our customers with both African Ironwood and Black G10 handle scales in the D2 blade steel that the Dozier knives have become so well known for. You can find the Dozier shop made Black Widow Capers here.

The version we are making in China is available only with black G10 scales. The 3" hollow ground blade is 8Cr13MoV at 57-59 Rc. The fine point, and the curve of the blade edge, is just right for the jobs it was intended to do – the caping of large animals or a complete skinning job on smaller ones. The uniquely shaped handle of G10 with a bead-blasted finish seems to perfectly fit any hand that grasps it. Measures 6-1⁄2" overall. Knife weighs 2.4 oz., and only 3.5 oz with the molded reinforced nylon sheath that is a copy of the sheath designed by Bob Dozier. Made in China.

A.G. Russell Knives

From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III

A.G. Russell has been in the knives and whetstones business for over 50 years. A.G. Russell knives are well known for their quality. A.G. Russell knives tend to be more traditional in style and look, with modern advances in material and design to create excellent knives.
