There are only 12.
It is amazing what we find tucked away on shelves and in drawers at A.G. Russell Knives. We recently found a small hoard of A.G.'s original K87 One-Hand Knives. In that find were these 12 with Cowry X Stainless Damascus blades. We sold the first of these in early 2000. Phil Gibbs has checked each of these and made adjustments to the locking mechanism where needed.
The handle, machined from a solid piece of stainless spring steel, works with the blade to create an unusual locking system. This system, and the thumb stud on both sides of the blade, allows the knife to be closed or opened one-handed using either hand. This knife, from A.G. Russell, is unique because it is so difficult to make and have it function well.
This steel should hold an edge at least 50% longer than ATS-34 or VG-10 with the best available heat treat. Measures 3-7/8" closed. Weighs approximately 2.4 oz. Blade and handle made in Japan. Assembled in our shop in Northwest Arkansas.

A.G. Russell Knives
From the age of nine I made homemade knives until I was about twenty-four when I began to make handmade knives, crude but no longer made at home. A few years later, I had met and learned from makers like R.W. Loveless and R. L. Dozier. I made knives until the mid 1970s. I don’t make handmade knives anymore, as my hands aren’t what they used to be. However, I do have very talented makers in the United States and Japan who make knives that I am proud to put my name on. I design pocketknives, one hand knives, lockbacks, and fixed blade knives and have them made to our standards. ~A.G. Russell III
