Designed by Igor Bortolussi. With the Mirror1 Igor intended to introduce a "different" approach to the way the knife is handled by incorporating a thumb choil/ramp and a thumb rest on the blade's spine that functions much like a finger choil. After the initial sketches, the design was refined with a 2D CAD drawing and tested using an unsharpened flat steel prototype. During testing, many users instinctively held the knife "upside down", using the thumb ramp as a finger choil. This discovery inspired Igor to develop two versions of the knife with the same outline but distinct identities: Mirror 1 and Mirror 2.
The Mirror 1 is designed as a sophisticated, gentleman-style EDC combining elegance with utility, perfect for refined moments, such as cutting a steak at dinner. Mirror 2 is designed for those seeking durability and functionality for everyday tasks. The blade steel is Bohler M390 at 60-61 Rc. Both blades measure 3-1⁄4" in length. The handle material is Bocote wood that has a fine textured surface for a good grip. The knives include a black leather Italian made sheath designed for pocket carry, (there is no belt loop) with a magnetic locking system developed by Igor himself during his time at MKM. Measures 6-7⁄8" overall. Weighs 2.8 oz. Made in Maniago, Italy.
