The SAFE folder from Viper was designed by Fabrizio Silvestrelli, master knifemaker in the Italian Knifemaker's Guild. He started making knives in 1988. The SAFE is a solid folder for everyday use. It uses a liner lock system combined with the A.S.L.S. safety system which helps to guard against accidental blade closure. The Pausanto wood handle scales have a textured surface to help give a good grip.
The Automatic SAFE LOCK SYSTEM® is a patent pending Viper system that allows the knife to be opened and closed with one hand, making the operation handy and quick, and leaves the open blade securely locked. The mechanism is located on the liner where the thumb naturally rests, allowing the lock to be disengaged with a simple finger movement. The mechanism is an insert in the liner. To disengage the lock simply slide the mechanism toward the butt of the handle and push the liner lock over to the left with your thumb.
The 3-3⁄4" modified tanto blade is satin finished Bohler M390 stainless at 60-61 Rc. The handle is Pausanto wood with stainless steel liners and a single position tip-up pocket clip. Measures 4-7⁄8" closed. Weighs 5.4 oz. Made in Maniago, Italy.
