Boker ME 109 Damast Folder
Item #: BO-PL909DAM
$493.00
The ME 109 Damast from Boker Plus® was inspired by the Messerschmitt Bf 109 commonly known as the Me 10. It was one of the most advanced fighters when it was first introduced and one of the most produced fighter aircraft in history. The steel Boker was able to obtain for this knife came from an E-series Messerschmitt Bf 109 that was shot down by a Royal Airforce Supermarine Spitfire in 1940 during the Battle of Britain near the village of Ashford in the British county of Kent. The specific parts are the rear plate of the pilot's steel-plated seat and the bearing sleeve of the propeller shaft. Hand forged by Chad Nichols into a high-carbon 80-layer Damascus in a pattern he calls "Wave Pool". These knives are so limited that we were only able to get 12.
The obverse handle scale is Toxic Storm Fat Carbon. The color scheme is based on the characteristic camouflage paint of the Bf 109 with greenish-grey undercoat and yellow front fuselage. The opening at the back of the blade has the unmistakable shape of the pilot's cockpit and is visible when the knife is closed and open. The flipper indicates a wheel of the retractable landing gear.
The 3" straightedge blade can be opened one-handed using the hole in the blade or the extended blade flipper. The titanium back handle scale supports a frame-lock to keep the blade secure in the open position. The titanium pocket clip is positioned for tip-up right-hand carry. A lanyard hole at the butt of the handle allows for other carry attachment options. Includes a high quality nylon pouch for storage. Measures 4" closed. Weighs 2.3 oz. Made in Taiwan. Suggested retail is $519.00.
