The M16® series is the most popular CRKT has ever developed. The late Kit Carson designed this and many of his other groundbreaking knives in his shop in Vine Grove, Kentucky. Kit's lasting legacy comes from his influence on the knife industry—he's known for popularizing the flipper, which is now a household component. He is also remembered for his service in the U.S. Military, retiring as Master Sergeant, and as a member of the Cutlery Hall of Fame.
The M16®-10DZ is an everyday carry knife designed to be used, just like the tactical version that inspired it. The tanto-style blade with Veff Serrations™ gives it extra bite, making effortless cuts through ropes and fibrous materials, while the automated liner safety offers an extra layer of lock security. The Glass-reinforced nylon handle is shaped and contoured in the same confident grip M16 style and is penetrated with multiple holes which keep it lightweight.
The blade is D2 steel which gives an ideal combination of toughness and edge-holding ability in a work knife, and also allows easy field- sharpening. The blade is coated in a Desert Tan colored EDP coating. The signature Carson Flipper and IKBS™ ball bearings in the pivot ensure smooth opening and closing, making it intuitive in the hand. The flipper also doubles as an effective blade guard in the open position. The Desert Tan coloring on the blade and handle scales compliments the black colored liners and pocket clip nicely.
The 3" tanto style blade has a hardness of 60-62 Rc. and a combo edge. Black coated stainless steel liners. Liner style lock. Comes with a black coated pocket clip that is positioned for a tip-down carry. Closed length is 4" and weighs 2.5 oz. Made in China. Suggested Retail $74.99.
