CRKT Snap Lock
Item #: CL-5102N
$49.95
Designed by Ed Van Hoy
CRKT has revived an old favorite, the Van Hoy Snap Lock. This remarkable knife was inspired by a knife designed by Blackie Collins in the 1960s or early in the 70s, which was very much a two handed knife. Ed added a remarkable opening and closing device that turns this one into a one hand knife. He has also totally redesigned the blade to bring it into the 21st Century.
When closed, the wishbone frame protects the blade edge. When open, it is a minimal but very usable handle. The harder you grip the handle, the more it locks the blade in place creating a very safe and secure folding knife. Ed's cam locking system features two thumb wheels for truly ambidextrous lock release from the open or closed position. Simply press the thumb wheel and rotate the blade sideways. Four weight reducing holes in the blade add a decorative touch. It will take just a few minutes of playing with it to become an expert at opening and closing this elegant little knife.
The a 2-1⁄2"modified Wharncliffe blade of 420J2 stainless at 50-52 Rc. is available with a plain edge. Measures 4-1⁄4" closed. Weighs 2.5 oz. Clip is positioned for tip up carry for right or left-handed use. Made in Taiwan. Suggested retail is $59.99.
