Every year Case® knives will choose a knife pattern that they will bring out of the vault, they produce that pattern in several handles materials, after the year is over they return that pattern to the vault and will not produce it again. This is called the Case® XX Vault® program. The Razor was the knife pattern that had been brought out of the Vault for 2024. This knife pattern will make you think of a Barlow with the elongated bolster for a timeless look and feel. The main blade has a distinctive “hook" at the tip allowing for use in hard to reach areas.
The blue Caribbean bone handle scales accented with the nickel silver Case Oval Script shield really draws the eye. The mirror-polished Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel blades are complemented with the nickel silver bolsters, brass liners and pins. The handle scales have a Sawcut jigging pattern. The blades are made from Tru-Sharp surgical stainless steel with a hardness of 54-57 Rc. Measures 3-7/8" closed with a 3" one hand blade and a 2-1/4" pen blade. Slip joint. Weighs 3.5 oz. W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is an American manufacturer of traditional pocket knives, limited edition commemoratives and collectibles. It makes American made traditional pocket knives in a variety of patterns, blade styles, and handle materials. They are particularly well known for their specialized dying process - creating beautiful and colorful bone handles. Case prefers to use their proprietary Tru-Sharp stainless steel. Tru-Sharp sharpens and polishes easily and is enjoyed by collectors all over.
The roots of the company span all the way back to 1889. W.,R. Case & Sons notably made knives in World War 1, notably the M3 Fighting Knife for servicemen and the V-42 stiletto for the Devil’s Brigade. They also made knives for NASA astronauts for when they touched back down on earth and were waiting to be picked up. The Case Company is currently owned by the Zippo Manufacturing Company, based in the same city, which is well known for their Zippo lighters. You can see great synergy between the companies as they share equipment and expertise like inlaid dyed bone handles and laser engraving machinery.
