The Meerkat is one of the most novel Spyderco® designs ever produced. Its defining feature is its unique Phantom Lock™ mechanism. Similar to a classic "scale-release" back lock, the Phantom Lock is operated by rotating the butt ends of the handle halves in opposite directions to close the blade. This Sprint Run brings back the Meerkat design that has been elevated with a blade crafted from CPM SPY27. Exclusive to Spyderco, this steel is a cobalt enriched particle metallurgy stainless steel that offers an excellent balance of edge holding, toughness and corrosion resistance. Every knife made with this steel has a distinctive cobalt-blue handle color that highlights its elite pedigree.
A Sprint is a special production run of a knife not found in their regular product line. It may be a distinctive version of a current model or a discontinued model. Every Sprint Run is a unique, one time only event.
The flat ground leaf shaped blade has a satin finish and plain edge. The steel has a hardness of 60-62 Rc. The blade measures 2" and the closed length is 3-3/8". The handle scales are cobalt blue fiberglass reinforced nylon over stainless steel liners. The deep-pocket wire clip is reversible for a tip-down carry and is reversible for a left or right-hand carry. Weighs 2.5 oz. Made in Japan. Suggested Retail $185.00.
