Spyderco Sage 5 Lightweight Cobalt Blue SPY27
Item #: SPC123PCBL
$183.75
Spyderco's popular Sage Series is a distinctive family of folding knives that uses a single design theme to showcase influential lock designs and honor their inventors. Highlighting their Compression Lock® mechanism, the Sage 5 is so popular they decided to take it a step further by offering it in a lightweight format.
Spyderco has long been an industry leader in the use of exotic, high-performance blade steels. After years of using the best materials the world's leading steel manufacturers could provide, they decided it was time to create their own. In close cooperation with Crucible® Industries, Spyderco has developed CPM SPY27—a particle metallurgy stainless steel containing a proprietary mix of alloys, including vanadium, molybdenum, niobium, nitrogen, and cobalt. This remarkable composition, enhanced by the amplifying effects of cobalt and the state-of-the-art Crucible Particle Metallurgy process, is produced exclusively for Spyderco. Every knife made with this steel will also have a distinctive cobalt-blue handle color that highlights its elite pedigree.
This Sage 5 showcases the exclusive CPM SPY27 blade steel in the signature cobalt-blue fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle. The blade features a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole™ for quick, one-handed opening with either hand. The 3" modified drop point blade has a plain edge with a satin finish and a hardness of 60-62 Rc.
The cobalt blue injection-molded FRN scales have a Bi-Directional Texture™ pattern for a non-slip grip and are home to nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners. The wire pocket clip is reversible for a tip-up left or right-hand carry. Closed length measures 4-1/8". Weighs 2.9 oz. Made in Taiwan. Suggested Retail $245.00.

Spyderco
In 1981, Spyderco ventured into the world of knife making by introducing their first folding knife, the C01 Worker. This knife was the first in the industry to feature a round hole in the blade design that allowed for fast, one-hand opening, now the company’s trademark, and the first to feature a pocket clip. The trademarked round hole is the most recognizable feature of a Spyderco knife and it facilitates the easy opening and closing of these knives with one hand while also offering convenient access and maximum control while opening as well as accommodating large, small or gloved hands.
Spyderco’s recognizable appearance is a result of designing ergonomically functional tools rather than applying lipstick and nylons to a pocketknife. Spyderco’s knives may look unusual, but they will never be called unusable or undependable. When you purchase a Spyderco knife, you are buying a high quality reliable cutting tool that was designed and manufactured for peak performance and ergonomic comfort.
