2023 Shot Show Exclusive

At the 2023 SHOT Show we ordered several Case models that were designated 2023 SHOT Show Exclusives, meaning that they would make only the quantity that were ordered at that show. We have been receiving those knives throughout the year. This is the final delivery of the knives that we ordered in January. The RussLock™ was named for the founder of W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co., John Russell Case. The name of the company came from his father, William Russell Case.

What makes this knife unique is the natural bone handle scales with a portion of the American flag visible through what appears to be a "tear" in the bone. The RussLock is different in the way it opens and the way it locks. The extension of the blade at the pivot creates a method for opening the blade with one hand. The locking system uses a third "liner" to lock the blade in the open position. Case was one of the first to put this type of opening system into production.

The handle material is smooth natural bone that on the obverse side has an etch of the American Flag appearing to be bursting out of the handle. The liners and bolsters are nickel silver The locking liner is stainless steel. The 2-5/8" modified clip point blade is Case's own Tru-Sharp stainless steel at 54-57 Rc. with a mirror polish. Measures 3-1/2" closed. Weighs 2.6 oz. Suggested retail is $143.14. Made in Bradford, PA, U.S.A.

Case Knives

W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company is an American manufacturer of traditional pocket knives, limited edition commemoratives and collectibles. It makes American made traditional pocket knives in a variety of patterns, blade styles, and handle materials. They are particularly well known for their specialized dying process - creating beautiful and colorful bone handles. Case prefers to use their proprietary Tru-Sharp stainless steel. Tru-Sharp sharpens and polishes easily and is enjoyed by collectors all over.

The roots of the company span all the way back to 1889. W.,R. Case & Sons notably made knives in World War 1, notably the M3 Fighting Knife for servicemen and the V-42 stiletto for the Devil’s Brigade. They also made knives for NASA astronauts for when they touched back down on earth and were waiting to be picked up. The Case Company is currently owned by the Zippo Manufacturing Company, based in the same city, which is well known for their Zippo lighters. You can see great synergy between the companies as they share equipment and expertise like inlaid dyed bone handles and laser engraving machinery.
