May 2019
As A.G. Russell Knives and the staff adjust to A.G. no longer being with us in physical form (he will always be with us in spirit), you will begin to notice slight changes to our catalogs. A little bit has already begun to change. Of course, these letters are no longer written with his direction and over his signature.
Earlier this year, in the Spring 2019 A.G. Russell™ catalog of knives, for the first time ever the letter was written by someone other than A.G. or myself. That letter was written by Phil Gibbs, the engineer who A.G. worked with every day since 2006. In that letter, Phil discussed how he and A.G. worked, and gave a good idea of the stockpile of knife designs they had accumulated, from finished drawings to the quick sketches A.G. was always bringing to Phil to scan.
Today, I would like to talk about how you will see the descriptions of knives evolve. As you know, many of the knives have been in this catalog (and on our website) before. Some for a number of years, others are new - both ours and other brands. Obviously, the descriptions written for the new knives are written by myself and our staff. Those of us who are writing the new descriptions have worked with A.G. for a long time, most of us helping him to express his thoughts and knowledge in a way that we could all understand.
As you go through this catalog and our website, or catalogs in the future, you will still find descriptions where A.G. was obviously the one 'talking'. New descriptions are written by myself and various members of our staff and are written from a company perspective. All of us are compulsive about getting this 'right' as A.G. would see it.
All the best,
Goldie Russell, president
